Going for monotone

There are many ways to make a small space appear bigger than it actually is, but the most obvious choice is to adopt a monochromatic home interior design.

There are many ways to make a small space appear bigger than it actually is, but the most obvious choice is to adopt a monochromatic home interior design. It is a go-to, classic look that is clean and inviting, but it’s a timeless choice that applies to all as it offers up a flair of luxury.

Before IEO’s remodeling, the master’s bedroom looked rather compact with a narrow entryway to the ensuite bathroom. The likely reason? Its brown-colored doors and floors. In interior design, dark colors absorb light which makes a room appear smaller, whereas lighter colors reflect light that visually expands space. Hence, the doors and flooring must be changed.

After our remodeling, the master’s bedroom unmistakably appeared larger and more visually appealing. We traded the murky brown doors and tiles with clean white and beige, with wooden accents to complement the walls. We chose to modify the walls as well to give the room more depth.

Although white is the prevailing color in this room, it doesn’t look dull because of the layers of texture in furniture and decor. The splash of gold in the wall art added life and sophistication to the entire home interior design.

In mirrors we trust

Adding mirrors is the easiest trick we used in this project. Much like white-colored walls, mirrors also reflect light well.

Adding mirrors is the easiest trick we used in this project. Much like white-colored walls, mirrors also reflect light well. Not only that, but it also gives an illusion of depth that can suggest that the area indeed has more space.

Floor-to-ceiling mirrors are found in the major rooms of this condominium unit, from the living and dining room combo, to the bedrooms. For the sake of discussion, we’ll focus on the shared living and dining space.

Prior to the makeover, you can observe that the space looks dull and too small to fit two different rooms that serve different purposes.

We chose to use a wide expanse of mirrors on one side of the wall where the dining set is placed, opposite the living space to enhance the room’s visual appeal. If you observe closely, we often utilized reflective glasses for purposeful decoration (as seen in the plant’s pot, the glass tabletop, and the light fixture). The logic is that, since one can see through a glass, it minimizes the occupation of floor space.

Let’s not forget your ceiling

Another way to achieve your dream home that boasts a classic, luxurious home interior design is by simply looking up.

The smallest change gives the most impact. Another way to achieve your dream home that boasts a classic, luxurious home interior design is by simply looking up. This means understanding how your ceiling affects your vision for your space and your home’s theme.

In the original design of one of the bedrooms at our Chimes Greenhills project, the ceiling looks visually flat and dull, and its low setting made the room feel small and suffocating.

Since the goal was to expand the space, we decided to go all-in and replace the conventional ceiling with a tray ceiling. This type of ceiling has different levels wherein the center is slightly higher than its surrounding outside panels.

The tray ceiling was able to make the room higher while adding a dramatic effect through accented light fixtures. Don’t you think the room looks more magnificent now?
